BOOKS-A-Go Go
For many children, it will be the first book in their home.
Most of us do not realize that thousands of children living within a few miles of our homes may not even own one book! We tend to be familiar with our immediate neighborhood area, and are not aware that many local children do not have books in their homes.
This is a very real situation throughout the country. It is important for children to have access to books. Many children cannot get to a library, and with their families limited resources, they don't own books.
BOOKS--A-Go Go collects used and new children's books and gives them to children from low income families. Kids need books to improve their literacy and develop a love of reading. BOOKS-A-Go Go has given thousands and thousands of books to children whose families cannot afford to buy them the books they need. The children love receiving their books, and get so excited, they hug them and can't want to read them. For many children, it will be the first book in their home.
BOOKS-A-Go Go has drop off locations for used children's books throughout the country (see "Your Community Section). If you or your organization can help in your community, let us know. BOOKS-A-Go Go needs more help across the country to have book drives and set up drop off locations for used children's books. BOOKS-A-Go Go has it's National Book Drive in March.
Millions of children throughout our country love books and want to read, but they do not have any books at home. BOOKS-A-Go Go wants to fix that, and is changing children's lives, one book at a time.
BOOKS-A-Go Go is pleased to welcome Henry Winkler ( The Fonz ) to our BOOKS-A-Go Go advisory board. As a best selling author, Henry Winkler knows the importance of literacy for all children, and we are pleased to have his support.****
